The U.S. Census Bureau is the premier source of information about the American people and the economy. More than just numbers, this information shapes important policy decisions that help improve the nation's social and economic conditions. To accomplish its mission, the Census Bureau supplies economic indicators that include housing starts, retail and wholesale trade sales, international trade, corporate profits, and manufacturers' shipments, orders, and inventories, as well as the nation's official measures of income, poverty, and health insurance coverage. Additionally, the Census Bureau conducts household and institutional surveys, many of which are sponsored by other federal agencies. Information from these surveys is used to measure income, poverty, education, health care coverage, crime victimization, computer usage, and scores of other subjects that are vital to understanding the people of the United States.
This WEB page is an on-line resource for finding demographic data from a variety of Census Bureau products and sources.
