<abstract>
These wall maps depict the congressional districts in
effect for the 108th Congress of the United States
(January 2003-2005). A separate map exists for each of
the 435 congressional districts, the District of
Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, and the
U.S. Virgin Islands. In addition to congressional
district boundaries, the maps show, American
Indian/Alaska Native/Hawaiian Homeland areas, states,
counties, county subdivisions, places, consolidated
cities, military installations, National Park Service
lands, roads, and hydrographic features. The maps were
created using the U.S. Census Bureau's TIGER database
(Census 2000). Each map measures 36 by 42 inches.

Congressional districts are the 435 areas from which
people are elected to the U.S. House of
Representatives. After the appointment of
congressional seats among the states, based on census
population counts, each state is responsible for
establishing congressional districts for the purpose
of electing representatives. Each congressional
district is to be as equal in population to all other
congressional districts in the state as practicable.
</abstract>
<purpose>
These maps were designed to display the boundaries
and features that define each congressional district,
as well as show selected geographic entities and
features within each district.
